1. An overview of Halong Bay
Halong Bay (literally "the bay of descending dragons") is located 170 kilometres from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The bay belongs to Quang Ninh Province, a northern province that shares a border with China.
Halong Bay has an area of about 1,553 km2, including 1,960 to 2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. These limestones are said to have gone through 500 million years of formation, altering different environmental conditions. Under the influence of the humid tropical climate, the most magnificent caves and islands in the world are found in this region.
<Located in the North, Halong Bay and Hanoi share many similarities in weather conditions. Both have four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter, with temperature and humidity changes throughout the year. Even though temperatures can fluctuate greatly from summer to winter, Halong Bay retains its unique charms throughout the year.
