Who built the Cu Chi Tunnel

According to History.com, The tunnels were often dug by hand, only a short distance at a time by the Communist guerrilla troops known as Viet Cong (VC). The soldiers used these underground routes to house troops, transport communications and food, lay surprise attacks and handmade traps, after which they could hide away underground for safety. From the late 1940s, Viet Cong began digging a network of tunnels under the jungle terrain of South Vietnam, during their war of independence from French colonial authority. At its peak of the Vietnam War, the network in the Cu Chi district linked VC support bases over a distance of some 250 kilometers, from the outskirts of Saigon all the way to the Cambodian border. For now, there are 120 km of the network maintained and open for tourists.

Transportation and road to Cu Chi tunnels

Cu Chi Tunnel is about 70 km from the center of Saigon to the Northwest, to get here you can go by taxi, motorbike or bus.
Bus:

Bus 13 (option 1): Catch bus number 13 in Trong Dong, Ben Thanh, District 1 to Cu Chi bus station. From Cu Chi bus station bus number 79 to Ben Duoc tunnels or bus number 63 to Ben Dinh tunnels.
Bus 13 (option 2) Bus number 13 to An Suong bus station. From here go on bus 122 to Tan Quy station and transfer to bus number 70 to Ben Dinh.
Bus 94: Board bus 94 (Cho Lon bus station - Cu Chi bus station) in 12 Xuan Dieu to Cu Chi bus station. From there transfer to bus number 79 to Ben Duoc tunnel or take bus 63 to Ben Dinh tunnels.
Bus 04: Take bus line number 04 in Ham Nghi A, Ben Thanh market to An Suong port. Transfer car 122 to Tan Quy wharf. Finally, go to Line 70 straight to Ben Dinh.

If traveling by motorbike or self-driving car: From Ben Thanh you go along National Highway 22, go to Cu Chi area turn to Nguyen Thi Rach street then go straight. Or you can go to Hoc Mon market, follow Trung Nu Vuong street, then go straight to Tan Quy intersection and continue straight for about 15km to the tunnel.

Opening hours: 7:00 AM - 5PM
Fares to visit the tunnel ofchi chi are divided into 2 types:
- Domestic tourist: For domestic customers: Adults: 20,000 VND
- International tourist: Adults: VND 110,000 VND

Note: When going to visit the Cu Chi tunnel, you should just bring lightweight luggage, necessary items such as hats, long-sleeved shirts to prevent forest mosquitoes.

What to visit in Cu Chi Tunnel

Cuchi wildlife rescue station
Wildlife rescue station is located between Pharmacy station and Dinh station, about 1km from Cu Chi tunnels. Founded in 2006, up to now, the largest wildlife hospital in the South has saved about 3600 rare animals.
