Ong Lang Beach, the hidden gem of Phu Quoc Island
- on Aug 18, 2019 By: BN
If you are looking for a beautiful beach in Phu Quoc to spend some quiet time then Ong Lang beach is definitely where you need to go.
Among the most beautiful beaches of Phu Quoc, this beach is more calm and therefore less crowded when compared to its counterparts Sao, Kem and Truong. Nature lovers will fall in love with the peacefulness of this beaches setting and appreciate the distance from the hustle and bustle of the real world.
Located west of Phu Quoc Island, Ong Lang beach is about six kilometers from Duong Dong town which is the heart of the region. Dotted with rocks and yellow sand the crescent shaped beach is bordered on one side with lush trees and on the other with turquoise water rivaling that of the Maldives’ beaches.
With its wild and remote nature intact it's no wonder that Ong Lang beach is among the best places to watch the sunset in Phu Quoc. For some people, the rocks emerging around the Mango Bay resort are perfect for a meditation in front of the sea at the end of the day.
Note that the best time to enjoy the beaches of Phu Quoc is from October to April due to it being the dry season.
How to get there?
4.5km from Duong Dong towards Cua Can you will find an indicative sign on the left and continue one kilometer more to access Ong Lang beach.
What to do?
Swimming, diving and fishing
The Ong Lang beach is ideal for swimming due to its calm water with extremely gentle underwater slopes. Other aquatic pleasures such as diving and fishing are also possible for you to discover. You can find many classes of fish, shells and colorful corals which live in the rocks and the seabed right from the shore.
BBQ and outdoor activities
A large green space stretching for hundreds of meters along the beach is perfect for picnicking under the shade. After hours of sunbathing or playing outdoor games you can barbecue with seafood purchased at the Duong Dong Market and spend a lovely evening with family and friends.
Kayak
Another activity that should delight sea lovers is no doubt kayaking. It’s an opportunity to take a tour of the resort and to discover the surroundings of the Cua Can River.
