  • Hanoi is with over a thousand years of history since 1010 when our King Ly moved the capital from Hoa Lu of Ninh Binh to this place and named Thang Long. Later, the capital was renamed Hanoi. That name means the land was surrounded by rivers.

    In such the over 1000 years of history, it was created very unique cultures and traditions of this land. These are expressed in the historical sites that existed and witnessed the historical events of the Hanoi capital.

    Today, many tourists come to Hanoi to discover the relics and cultural features of local people in this land. Authentik Travel would like to list the top 10 places to visit of this land with full of quintessence and pride.
     
    1/ Hanoi old quarter:
    This is an area with many streets with their own characteristics following their names. Over the time, everything will change however, the Hanoi old quarter still retains its ancient features with its small narrow houses by the streets and its traditional tile roofs. The name of street was named based on the craft industry of that street.

    2/ Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple:
    Very close to Hanoi old quarter is Hoan Kiem Lake or Ho Guom Lake (Sword Lake) this is the center of Hanoi Capital with the outstanding turtles tower and Ngoc Son temple in the middle of the Lake that creates a captivating beauty and symbol of the capital.

    3/ Tran Quoc Pagoda:
    The oldest pagoda in Hanoi with more than 1500 years old. Located by the edge of Hanoi’s West Lake which brings both majestic ancient beauty and poetic beauty. This temple attracts many either domestic tourists or international tourists to come and visit. Even Hanoi people often come to the temple on the first day and the 15th day of lunar month to pray for all the luck to the family.

    4/ Temple of Literature or Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam:
    This is the first university of Vietnam in the year 1070. This is a beautiful architectural work with traditional characteristics of Vietnamese people. From this place, there were many talents for our country at that time. At present, Temple of Literature is one of the leading sightseeing spot in Hanoi and it also is used for some activities about culture, education.

    5/ Thang Long Imperial Citadel:
    Thang Long means Rising Dragon, contrary to Halong of Halong Bay. Thang Long was also the previous name of the capital before changing the name to Hanoi.
    In Thang Long Imperial citadel has many relics which are highly archaeological to research the history of Hanoi.

    6/ Hanoi Flag and Military Museum:
    These two places are in one area and they are right next to the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. Tourist could climb up to Hanoi flag and get a great view of Hanoi from above.
    Vietnamese Military Museum is by Hanoi Flag. Tourist will know more about the war and Vietnam history from this museum. This is also the highlight of Hanoi.

    7/ Hanoi Cathedral:

    8/ Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex:
    This is a complex located in the heart of Hanoi city, this is place for our Ho Chi Minh president working, welcoming guests and relaxing. After the president passed away, this mausoleum was built right in the place where he read the declaration of independence of Vietnam in 1945. The Mausoleum becomes a very important place for Vietnamese people come to respect him and this is an indispensable place in Hanoi trip.

    9/ Vietnam Ethology Museum:
    The Museum is located in Hanoi and 4km from Hoan Kiem Lake Center. This place provides full information about 54 ethnic groups living in the territory of Vietnam both culture and local life. Moreover, this Museum is like a park with garden and full of trees and house models. You will feel the different atmosphere even you are in the bustling city.

    10/ Long Bien Bridge:
    The ancient bridge was built by French and it is over the Red River, connecting Hanoi city with the Northern provinces. Despite of the age, it is still good in use for motorbikes, bikes, trains and pedestrians.
