Thung Nham bird garden (also known as Thung Chim) belongs to Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. It is located in the core of the Trang An Complex which is very close to Tam Coc Bich Dong.

Way to get to Thung Nham

From Hanoi, follow the direction of National Highway 1A and go in the direction to Tam Coc tourist area, ride straight through Tam Coc area, toward Bich Dong Pagoda (near the temple) there will be a fork, take the left-handed track and look at the signpost) From here, drive straight to Thung Nham.
At Thung Nham ticketgateway, you can buy a boat ticket from the first section to go to But cave or choose to go straight to Thung Nham.

But Cave ( Buddha Cave)

But Cave is a natural stone cave 500 meters  long belonging to Thung Nham bird garden. In the cave, there is a Buddha-shaped stone, sitting by the beautiful underground river. The cave is dark and there is no lighting system, you will take a flashlight to visit.
As it was mentioned on the way to Thung Nham Ninh Binh, you should buy a ticket at the boat right at the first ticket gate to visit But cave.

Vai Gioi Cave is a high mountain cave, about 5000 m2 with 3 dynamic layers, containing a lot of stalactites, divided into "Earth, Hell and Paradise". It is also known that this is the place where the herd of the Heaven's sacrifice was established, praying for rain and good harvests.
To visit the Vai Gioi Cave, after going through the ticket gate 500m, you turn right to head up the cave. After passing the challenge of 439 stone steps, you will reach the cave door.

This is undoubtedly the most important destination of the Thung Nham Ninh Binh bird sanctuary. The bird garden is the living space of many birds such as stork, cauldron, garganey, especially two rare species in the red book are the constant and phoenix. The limestone mountain range that is silhouetted against the blue water and the birds flock to the branches makes for a peaceful and idyllic setting rarely found.

- Travel time: The most reasonable is 2 days 1 night. Please check the weather forecast beforehand to visit the most beautiful scenes.
- Vehicles: You can choose motorbike or car to Thung Nham. Go to the ticket gate, you must park your car at the parking lot in the Thung Nham bird garden area, then walk and visit the places.
